Comparing BlaqPanel vs “premium” managed hosts…Kinsta, WPEngine, Flywheel, Closte, Servebolt, Pantheon, etc.
BlaqPanel PROS:
- BP is much faster than managed hosts (except for maybe the ultra-expensive ones). A faster stack, and allows full server resources with no limits.
- BP is easily cheaper. You get far more space for the money and free reign to use it on as many sites and traffic as you want. Managed hosts charge per site or per traffic limit, which can be very expensive if you have many sites or lots of traffic.
- BP doesn’t have arbitrary limits. You can have as many sites, traffic, bandwidth use, backups and restores….everything as much as you want. You can also use all server resources, full use of CPU, memory, “bursting”, disk, etc. There is no fine print or caged limits because this is your server and you’re free to abuse it to the max.
- BP gives you full server control, allowing you to install custom apps or services.
- BP might have some useful features that managed hosts don’t have.
BlaqPanel CONS:
- Managed hosts offer pretty good support for every issue. Available 24/7 via chat, included in the price you pay.
- Managed hosts have a nice interface for giving access to other team members or contractors. (BP doesn’t quite have this yet but we’re working on it.)
Specific comparisons:
- Closte – BP offers cheaper and more predictable pricing and different UI. Closte is fast and has LiteSpeed. Some say their support is rude but I don’t mind it.
- Flywheel – BP much faster, cheaper, more features, and better UI. Their support is ok.
- Kinsta – BP much faster, more server resource allotment. Kinsta has included support and prettier UI.
- Pantheon – BP much much cheaper but doesn’t come with all their fancy service, etc.
- Servebolt – BP much cheaper and doesn’t come with included support.
- WP Engine – similar to Kinsta. BP is faster, cheaper, and with much more server resource allotment, but doesn’t come with support.
