Why the need for BlaqPanel?

BlaqPanel is the child of my frustration for the existing webhosting industry.

After managing servers for many years now and despite having clout and close relationships with founders, devs, engineers from many hosting companies…none have managed to build a panel exactly the way I wanted.

  • Critical features still missing.
  • UI layouts still not intuitive.
  • Too much focus on only “things that make money”.
  • Annoying gimmicky branding.

I got tired of waiting. Tired of giving away feedback to people who would only execute some of them (inevitably delaying the rest because it didn’t fit their “business model” or dev philosophy).

The old adage goes…“If you want something done right, do it yourself.”

So that’s where I’m at now…begrudgingly. In some ways, it feels like a fairy-tale adventure ride to build my own fantasy panel. In other ways, it feels like a giant middle finger to the entire webhosting industry that couldn’t build what I wanted.

My ranty list of complaints regarding existing webhosts and panels:

  • UI – too many things put in unintuitive places. Anytime something costs me an extra click, I get angry. I wanted iPhone-esque UI, ok? Super smooth…super intuitive…nobody should need documentation to know how to use it!
  • Lacking features – lack of staging, backup, free SSL’s, file manager, etc.
  • No LiteSpeed – many of them don’t offer my favorite web-server (which is compatible with my favorite WordPress cache plugin).
  • Ripoff prices – too expensive, too limited, too many gotcha’s.

Can BlaqPanel really solve all those issues?

  • Probably not. But I’ll do my *very* best.
  • I at least want something I enjoy using. And my thinking is that if I like it, then maybe others would, too. Just that.

So if you’re interested…give BlaqPanel a try. See if it ticks boxes for you that you didn’t know you had. Tell me what you liked and didn’t like. Now that I’ve commited myself to this long painful climb, I won’t rest until I reach the top. The rest of you can climb with…or just meet me at the top.

See you there, my friend.
Johnny
